April 11, 2024-April 15, 2024-Week 49-David

Week number one of transfer SEVEN! I can't believe I have been a missionary for so darn long, it really seems just like my life at this point. Whenever I think of home, I imagine speaking in Spanish and just listening to the LDS tabernacle choir 24/7, but I am sure it will be quite different! It is a privilege to be a missionary though, highly recommend it to everyone!

This week I learned more and more about how God is not a God of coincidences, but has perfectly orchestrated the cosmics to show us His hand in the day to day details. We were going to a lesson a little further away and hopped in a taxi, when she canceled on us. From that, in five minutes all of our plans for the next 2 hours of the night fell. At this point it is dark and we are like "what are two girls to do?". We are walking down the street and two people say hi to us, and I am thinking, well they either have had missionaries in their house before, or they are way inactive members. Turns out, the husband was a member and the rest of his family not, and that they had JUST moved into this house in our area. God is God of perfectly planned and anticipated miracles. When we think we have made good plans, He has something even more glorious planned. He left us feeling a little tired, exasperated, and questioning what to do, just to come in and show us "Don't doubt! I'm right here! This is my work. I will never abandon you!". And so it is, and so it will be. But, we also must be willing to do our part to see the miracle. If I had just kept walking and not talked to them, I would have never have met them. We must be active participants in miracles!

This transfer I am also trying to gain a better testimony of fasting, since I have always done it, but maybe not too focused. We had fast Sunday this week and we are having the goal to help baptize five people in the next six weeks -- or as we call our "convenio cinco". We fasted for them, to find, teach, and help them be baptized. God did His part, filling the church with 17 friends!!! But, we also did our part in the miracle -- fasting, contacting, "stepping out of the boat" like Peter when the tempest was raging. I know God is a God of great miracles. He knows where we are and our desires. He loves us. We cannot ever doubt that.

On another note, I totally think that there was bed bugs in this sofa the other day. I was getting eaten alive, and then I saw ONE on my companion. So, pray that we don't bring bed bugs into our house. Before the mission I didn't think they were real, but yes they are, and very very prevalent.

I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY! I love to think about this powerful scripture in the Book of Mormon:
"And now, these are the words of Ammon to his brethren, which say thus: My brothers and my brethren, behold I say unto you, how great reason have we to rejoice; for could we have supposed when we started from the land of [Washinton] that God would have granted unto us such great blessings?" (Alma 26:1).
There's no doubt in my mind that I could have fathomed these blessings -- whole hearted conversion and conviction that this is Christ's true church and that I never want to stray. I know that He lives and guides His church. That He knows each one of us and invites us to come even closer to Him DAILY.
