September 26-October 2, 2023-Week 21-Guadalupe

There is not much to report out here in Panama! The work really just continues to press forward. We are having lots of good success with working with families who are part members. I think this is so special because we get to help people have eternal families!

This weekend was also general conference. I watched it all in Spanish, so I understood most if not everything, but since it is not my native language it did not quite strike the same cord. But here are some things that stood out to me and that I loved from the conference:
- your level of happiness will never exceed your level of gratitude
- a covenant is a relationship and a special promise with god that endows you with heavenly power when you keep them
- when you feel far away from God, repent
- to do some self talk to yourself every morning in the mirror and remind yourself that you are a beloved child of God

One of the miracles that happened this week is that we were having major phone problems one night. Our data was not working and nothing was sending through. So not only were we two gringa girls, with 19 years, living alone in Panama, but also without any phone to contact anyone AND THE POWER WAS OUT. I digress, haha. We were able to finally get a call through to the mission offices and got it fixed, more or less. The next day was conference and because of the power outage the night before, some people still did not have signal. So, we watched conference on our phone with them and I brought my speaker. We did not know that this would happen and this was our back up plan. Luckily our phone had been fixed and we were able to enjoy conference with some of friends, menos activos (inactive members), and recent converts!

I just want to testify that God makes and multiplies our efforts into miracles. I am out here with my comp working hard! We hit the pavement from 10-9 everyday, trying to bring people to Christ one step at a time. Still, we are failing a lot. I have a lot of shortcomings: I become impatient, I don't understand Spanish sometimes, I sometimes don't have enough words in Spanish to give a good answer, I forget names and things to do. But, God is working through us to bring about miracles. We have 4 people with baptism dates from this upcoming month and will hopefully put 3 more people on date this week! I know it is not because of me, but because God is working through me. He makes our imperfect offering so completely and absolutely perfect.

Funny thought:
