September 3, 2024-September 9, 2024-Week 70-Loma Nueve

Feliz semana! This week was another great week in the work. The highlights of the this week was the baptism of our friend Teofila Tuñon Cedeño de Moreno!! The story is really really cool of her, I think one of the coolest and most special baptisms I have been able to be a part of.

Basically, the whole run down of the story of Teofila is one Sunday, we were out with a member, and every single plan we had had fallen through. Day in the life of a missionary. The member went home, and Hermana Shirley and I looked at our watch and said "we have 45 minutes until a meeting, so let's think of something" and we prayed on the curb. We decided to go to a recent convert who had not come to church in a long time, and was inactive, and who neither of us had ever met, Alicia. We get to her house, and Teofila and Alicia were both there, and we shared about the importance of the sabbath day, hoping to motivate Alicia to come back to activity. God had something even more perfect planned. The two of them both promised to come to church with us on Sunday, and we set another visit with Teofila. We taught her with lots of members, and she started to read in the Book of Mormon, and was always quick to share her testimony of the peace she had felt in her life since we had met her. She came all by herself to church on Sunday, without her friend. Everything was so perfect! She was married and she had already stopped drinking coffee and committed to stop. She really was somebody elect as we say in the mission. I think the most special part is seeing her recognize the Holy Ghost in her life, and how she had felt so much joy for the little of time we spent together each day until her baptism. She also was taught one year ago, by none other than my mission bestie, Hermana Christensen, but she didn't progress much. Teofila always commented on how this was her moment! I know that it was and I am so grateful to have been a part of it! Another child of God endowed with covenants, who's next?

I love this quote from Eldre Uchtdorf that I read yesterday, "The problem comes when we put our happiness on hold as we wait for some future event". Perfection is pending, but happiness is PERMANENT! We do not need to postpone the everyday joys that can be had. I know this is so much joy just finding peace in simple truths like knowing I am a daughter of God, I can return to Him, I have a family who loves me, and that there are many many people ready to receive this message. Adopt a style of happiness and smile more!

I don't really know what else happened that would be that interesting to you folks, but the mission is great!
